The Program

concentration Requirements

Required Coursework

The curriculum is designed for maximum flexibility. Students in the Molecular Biophysics concentration will use electives and/or open credits within a “home” Ph.D. program for the required coursework and will not need to take any extra time on their degree. Each Ph.D. student must complete three courses, totaling 8 credit hours:

  • PHYS 6108- Biophysics (3 credits)
  • PHYS 6204/NANO 8060 – Methods of Molecular Modeling and Simulation in Physics (3 credits)
  • PHYS 6610/OPTI 8000-003 – Biophysics Seminar (1 credit per course; must be taken at least twice)

Students may also register for these courses through the “home” Ph.D. program, if they are cross-listed at the 8000 level.
